We’re Looking For Local Families

Guardian program

Keep a piece of our program in your own home, at a deeply discounted rate — in exchange for a little help when it’s time for breeding.

At Doodles & Doxies we believe that every dog deserves to have a loving, forever home. It’s important to us that all of our parent dogs are part of a family and live in a home rather than kennels, so that we know they’re getting as much attention as possible.

In order to accomplish this, we occasionally partner with local families, which we call a “Guardian Home.” These homes have become an important part of our program, which benefits everyone involved: the dog, the breeder, and the forever family.

Becoming a partner in our Guardian Program allows local families to have a breeder’s “pick of the litter” puppy as a family pet at a deeply discounted price, and in return we ask for your help returning the dog when it’s time for breeding. We consider our guardian homes an extension of our family, and we offer incentives to make the back-and-forth easier to bear.

8% Georgia sales tax applies to all puppies and is added to your invoice automatically.

Not For Everyone

How to qualify as a guardian home

In addition to the normal expectations we have for anyone who purchases our puppies, you must be willing and able to follow these requirements.

  • Be willing to properly socialize our dog while in your care
  • Keep them as an indoor pet, never left unattended around another unauthorized intact dog
  • Agree to feed what we feed our dogs — TLC Premium Dog Food and NuVet Multivitamin
  • Keep all other non-program dogs of the opposite gender fixed
  • Never allow the dog to mate with any unapproved dogs
  • Provide veterinary care as needed and follow our recommendations on vaccines, flea/tick care, and medications
  • For a female: be willing to drop her off for 1–2 weeks while she is bred, then 1 week prior to whelping — she stays with us until the puppies are weaned
  • For a male: be willing to drop him off for 3–7 days for breedings, unless other pickup arrangements are made
  • Stay in frequent communication with us about scheduling, testing, mating, whelping, and anything else breeding related
  • Keep us posted on their wellbeing with photos we can share on social media
  • Maintain this agreement even if you relocate, including flying the dog back to us at your expense

Our needs are forever changing — we may have dogs available to guardian homes that haven’t made it to our website yet. If interested, please inquire.

Guardian home dogs

Our dogs are happiest in our home, or in the home of a loving family who dotes on them and takes care of their needs. A guardian arrangement needs communication and trust — we trust that you’ll work with us, be kind to our animals, and love them as we would.

Males stay unfixed and ready for when our females go into heat. We recommend homes with no other unfixed males or females. When needed, he stays with us for up to two weeks and is returned once our girls have finished their window.

Females go through their first heat with you rather than at our place around males; for later heats we handle travel so there’s no mess for you. Once bred, she’s returned to you for her two-month pregnancy, then comes back to us around day 50 to whelp and stay with us for six weeks after birth — you’re welcome to visit on weekends once the puppies are over four weeks old.

Willow, Miniature Bernedoodle
Available

Willow

Miniature Bernedoodle · Female · Chocolate, longhair, silky, wavy

Willow is our soft-spoken, sweet, and not very confident girl. She willingly does what she is told, but she is not a leader, and is quite the pushover. She loves kids, and gets along well with any other dogs.

Quinn, F1B Reverse Sheepadoodle (67% Sheepdog)
Available

Quinn

F1B Reverse Sheepadoodle (67% Sheepdog) · Female · Peppered Black and White, no shed, silky, gentle curl

Goofy and sweet, quiet for the family, but a guard dog through and through for the property. Willing to get dirty if you are, or lounge around with you if you choose. Loves to be with her humans — a cuddler, but also prefers the solitary dog life.

Juniper, F2B Goldendoodle
Available

Juniper

F2B Goldendoodle · Female · Golden, wavy coat, minimal shedding

Quiet and meek, with a twinkle in her eye when she shows her mischievous side. Her parents, Sadie and Brutus, are both retired from our program. Easy going and sweet, with the high retriever traits of her "Aunt" Annie. She does shed, so her guardian home keeps her brushed — the upside is she never needs professional grooming.

Gus, 100% AKC Moyen Poodle
Available

Gus

100% AKC Moyen Poodle · Male · Chocolate and White Parti, silky curly, non-shedding

A quiet and reserved poodle — rare for the breed. He is super sweet and mellow, follows everyone around, and loves kids.
